We couldn’t possibly tell you who’s responsible for this illustration, or the story that inspired it. All we can say is that you’ll find it somewhere in You Are The Friction.
An illuminating slideshow of sketches and final images from William Goldsmith’s Vignettes of Ystov (complete with commentary from Bill). You should own a copy of this book.
We finally let loose the first volume of Reverence Library this week, two years (to the month) after the release of We Are The Friction. Which is not to say that the book took us two years, although it’s certainly a long time coming. In the time it took for Reverence Library to come out, for example, Luke Pearson published his first magnificent comic Hildafolk with those Nobrow characters (with the follow-up, Everything We Miss, due imminently), and William Goldsmith’s wonderful Vignettes of Ystov was released by Jonathan Cape to satisfyingly rave reviews.
From this point, in between making friends with our local postal workers as we start sending out Reverence Libraries, we’ll be finishing off the final book in the Friction trilogy - our collaborative writer/illustrator experiment. We’re beyond excited to put this one out and will be posting up a few previews in the coming weeks.
